About Us: Gage & Tollner, the landmarked oyster and chop house in Downtown Brooklyn, originally opened its doors in 1879. Under current ownership since 2021, it has swiftly reclaimed its status as the "very famous restaurant in Brooklyn," once again standing as a beacon in New York City's culinary landscape. Warm, professional service has been the hallmark of Gage & Tollner for 140 years. Gage & Tollner is a fast paced, high volume and well respected restaurant. The kitchen crew works as a team. We pride ourselves on our ‘from scratch’ approach and expect our team to share in that pride. About the Role: We are looking for an expeditor who has a deep understanding of the timing and coordination of kitchen stations, as well as a thorough knowledge of overall kitchen operations. This person must be able to efficiently manage and synchronize the flow of dishes, ensuring that orders are prepared and delivered to customers by the front of house staff promptly and correctly. The Expeditor will collaborate closely with our management team - mainly with the Executive Chef, Chef de Cuisine and General Manager to deliver consistency and great service. Skillset & Expectations Work with the kitchen team to execute the proper steps of service with efficiency and professional communication while maintaining a sense of urgency Demonstrating patience and a friendly demeanor to all staff Uphold a constant high standard of presentation of dishes Possess great active listening and communication skills. Be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends Feel comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with KDS software Ability to remain on feet for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds unassisted Understanding and communicating menu changes to all required parties Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to Department of Health (DOH) standards. Have an NYC Food Handler’s License. Pay: Between $28-$32/hour depending on experience, plus medical, dental and vision insurance for full time employees. 401(k), Paid Sick Leave, Paid Time Off, and Commuter Benefits are also available.
